Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  How do I set one of the images to be my background?

A:  (Windows) Right-click and select Save As Background.

  • If there is no Save As Background option, choose Save Picture As and save the file to your Windows directory.  Then go to Control Panel>Display>Desktop tab and select your image.

  • Older systems may not allow .jpg images as backgrounds.  If that is the case, I can e-mail you an image in bitmap format.

(Mac) Click on the image and hold the mouse button down, then select Save As Background.

Q:  The largest size you offer is 1152x864, and my desktop is larger than that.

A:  I can create whatever size image you need, up to 1600x1200.  Contact me and tell me what size you need and I'll attach it in an e-mail back to you.  The only reason I don't post the larger sizes for download is because the big images take up a lot of space on the server.

Q:  Your images are in JPEG (.jpg) format.  I need bitmap (.bmp) or some other format.

A:  Again, contact me and tell you what you need.  If possible, I will create it and attach it in an e-mail back to you.

Q:  I'd like to suggest a location for you to photograph.

A:  Please do!  The only requirements are that it must be a location in the greater Memphis/Mid-South area, and it must appeal to a wide audience.  E-mail me your suggestions.  Please note that I am extremely busy, though, so it may take me a while to actually get out there, shoot the photos, and then create and upload the images.

Q:  I'd love a desktop wallpaper image of my church, school, etc.  Would you consider shooting one?

A:  As long as it's in the Memphis area, and you can convince me that a substantial number of people would be interested in the image, I'd be happy to come out and shoot a photo and put it on the site.

Q:  I saw an image on your site a while back that I wanted.  Now I can't find it anymore.

A:  I probably took it down - due to space limitations I can only host a maximum of about 50-70 images.  When I run out of space, I determine which images are the least popular and take those down.  I have archives of old images - e-mail me and tell me which one you want, and if I can find it I'll e-mail it back to you.  If this site gets wildly popular I'll consider buying additional space to bump up the image limit.

Q:  How come you don't have any Graceland images?

A:  Elvis Presley's estate tends to be very protective of their copyrights - and rightly so, he is the King after all!  So, I'm not posting any Graceland pics in order to avoid copyright violations.  You can find Graceland and Elvis wallpaper at www.elvis.com.

Q:  Do you have software that can randomly choose one of these images for my desktop when I start my computer, or software that can make a screen saver out of these images?

A:  I don't offer such software on this site, but if you go to www.download.com and search for "wallpaper" or "screen saver", you should be able to find something that suits your needs.

Q:  I just saw myself in one of your photos - I don't want my picture on the Web!

A:  Oops, sorry 'bout that.  E-mail me and let me know which photo, and I'll take it down.

Q:  I have a wallpaper/photo web site - may I put copies of your images on my site?

A:  I'm sorry, but no - that's a violation of this site's copyright.  Direct links to the images on this site (links whose URLs end in .jpg) are also not allowed.  On the other hand, you are more than welcome to link to the main page of this site (www.memphiswallpaper.com).
